Bath, Somerset
by Seer Oon Hor
We celebrated a very special day with a day trip to Bath, the town known for its 18th century Georgian architecture. Lunch in Clayton's Kitchen @ The Porter was amazing. Dishes were beautifully plated and food was cooked to a high standard. We spent the afternoon roaming the town and hitting tourist hot spots such as the Royal Crescent, Pulteney Bridge and Thermea Spa. The spa experience was memorable. It is a bonus when a rainbow appeared while we were enjoying the rooftop spa. We ended the day with a dinner at Bath Priory Restaurant. Amuse bouche of carrot soup with a hint of curry was outstanding. Scallop was perfectly cooked but pickled radish which served with it was unnecessary as the flavour was overpowering the delicate taste of the scallop. The meat dish was fillet of beef and it was very tender and well cooked. Unfortunately the sun dried tomato bread was over baked, leaving a bitter after taste. Considering it is a one Michelin star restaurant, it was a little disappointing. Overall food and service was very good but comparing to another one Michelin star restaurant, Simon Radley at Chester Grosvenor in Chester is a completely different league altogether.
It was a truly wonderful and beautiful day in Bath. We'll be back...
